This book was well thought out and nicely presented to the world. James Frazer did some extensive research in presenting this one to us. From ancient magic, to modern magic, pagan practices and age old beliefs, it’s all here in this little book on the occult. I enjoy reading and studying about the supernatural so I immediately found it attractive, but it is instructive and informative and jam packed with information for the curious mind nonetheless.Al-Khemet Book Club JUN 2015

Frazer was one of the pioneers in the study of mythology and epic literature. The book is a must have for anyone interested in the study of the genre.
This book contains a combination of mythology, folklore, and magic. If you are interested in magic or religion then this is a good book is for you.
I like history books and I like mythology and folklore. This book combines the two. I read it as the history of the world (or, specifically, northern Europe) as told in myths, cultural beliefs, and religious practices. The neo-pagan aspect is especially interesting to me. Wonderful art, too.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Golden Bough A Study of Magic and Religion. It’s a collection of wonderful stories involving the history of the world. The illustrations are quite beautiful. It’s filled with mythology, supernatural magic, and modern neo-pagan practices. I highly recommend and give author James Frazer five stars for the excellent content.
This is the epitome of a volume a lover of culture, mythology, pagan practices, magic and stories that transcend time should have in their library. . Although this volume has been around for over a hundred years, the writing it still applicable to live in the 21st century. The collection is rich in the wealth of knowledge and tales it tells. It offers stories that are rich in description and tradition. It is a wonderful way to spend a rainy weekend - read a little, dream a little and back and forth. You will find that you will evolve with the book. Also, the art is lovely as well.
I purchased this book to investigate the text's influence not only in religion but many aspects of government and society. People for years have let this book shape things in a lot of people's lives that are not even aware of its existence. Jimmy Page of Led Zepplin fame read this book. People would be surprised not just rock of the 1960's and 1970's were influenced by the book but even policy decided by law makers. Interesting text. Strongly linked to the Underground and major impact in all our lives!
